Born in Sydney and now living in Halifax, CKDU broadcaster Doug Taylor attended the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design as a mature student, graduating in 1992. His source images are photographs of recreations such as country fairs, demolition derbies and Khyber Club performances. Taylor recreates these scenes in a painting style that borders on the caricatural, with mannerisms suggestive of the self-taught artist. This exhibition is part of the Prospect series, which introduces emerging Nova Scotian artists in a public art gallery context.
OPENING RECEPTION jointly with Anna Torma: Needleworks, on Sunday, January 14 at 2:00pm. The artist will be present. The free charter bus leaves 5163 Duke Street at 1:30pm., returning downtown at 4:00pm.
