The Quoddy Fold is an intimate interaction between a woman and a derelict coastal house on the Eastern Shore of Nova Scotia. In this one-hour film, Phillips observes the dismantling of the house and the transition of wood to dust, damp paper to mold, as they fold back into the land and sea. Through the poetics of the ruin, The Quoddy Fold interrogates dwelling and landscape, inviting consideration of the anxieties that surround impermanence. Phillips teaches time-based and contemporary art practices at OCAD University, Toronto.
