Suzanne Caines\, a NSCAD graduate\, returned to Halifax after receiving her MFA from Chelsea College\, London. In The Encounter the artist creates an “activated situation” by conducting on-camera interviews with strangers during the exhibition’s first week and the opening reception. These interactions are transmitted live to monitors in the gallery. Drawings by the artist\, based on the interviews\, are added to the exhibition as they become available.
