In Record Keeping\, a jewel-hued archive of paintings and installations embedded with journal entries\, folk tales\, gossip and news\, the artist draws upon a personal history of movement from her birthplace in India\, to Britain and then to Canada. Dhaliwal’s art highlights the ways in which words\, and the finely-tuned codes of dress and custom\, shape experience and relationships with others. \nWith Record Keeping\, MSVU Art Gallery extends its engagement with diasporic aesthetics to the South Asian Diaspora.
