David Dahms Impromtu Residency

May 4, 2009 - May 12, 2009

Artist:
Year 2009

Impromptu exhibitions provide selected Nova Scotian artists with ample space and limited time to work on projects in the gallery. Visitors are welcome to watch the artist at work during weekday gallery hours. Between exhibitions the gallery is closed on weekends.

During his residency, Dahms will be working on a sculpture and drawing installation under the mezzanine in the main gallery space of MSVU Art Gallery. David Dahms attended Mount Allison University, graduating with a BA in International Relations. Recently he returned to his native Nova Scotia and completed a BFA at NSCAD University, focusing on drawing and printmaking.

Since graduating David Dahms has received a Creation Grant from NS Tourism, Culture & Heritage, was the Printmaker-in-Residence at the Confederation Centre of the Arts, and has participated in Flight Dreams at the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia. In fall 2008, Dahms collaborated at MSVU Art Gallery with Katie Belcher, Stefan Hancherow, and Suzanne Swannie to create Aura Aurora, a light-based installation on the occasion of Nocturne, at MSVU Art Gallery.
